PLAYOFFS. Men plan and God laughs.

Be careful washing wineglasses by hand.

The Western Conference was a mess and came out nothing like I predicted, big surprise. I hoped Charlotte would inch in past the Pistons and Augistine could get a Playoff debut in his rookie season. Maybe next year Bobcats.

The NCAA Men's Tournament was slightly droll, what the hell Michigan y'all were at home? UNC deserved it, they came back with a mission, locked, loaded and executed. Congratulations Tar Heels.

The Hawks are high flying and on first look seem to athletic for the Heat . They crushed the Heat on all fronts, this will be an exciting series. C'mon D-Wade. The Heat's 3-point shooting will either make or break them.

The Hornets looked like a D-Leauge team, despite CP3's performance, they really need to lock down Billups if they expect to extend their season. I can't stand George Karl since his Sonics' days, but they look tough. If the Nuggets can keep up their defense (the Nuggets play defense?) they look unstoppable, their offense is not a problem.

What's up with World Champion Celtics having to battle on their home turf for a hard earned win out of 2 home games? The Celtics' spines are against the wall going into the Windy City. Gordon was CRUSHING, but not enough for ice cold Allen, this is the best series yet. Garnett needs to stay on the sidelines hyping his team up and the Bulls need to do what they have been doing. Gordon's hot hand and defensive stops followed by rebounds will be the only thing to push the Bulls past the defending Champs.

Rockets aint scared in the Rose Garden! Red and white is hungry and as long as Brooks can have solid games and move the ball around, in to Yao out to open perimeter shooters, CLUTCH CITY will be back in action. As long as Houston dominates with its experience and talent, but stays focused its a lock. The Blazers got the talent but the headlights are still disorienting their game.

Lebron is a BEAST and Joe Smith can rap! The Piston's don't have the firepower, heart, or defense, rebuild, rebuild. No x-factor just King James in this one, maybe next year Motor City.

Maybe 5 Deron Williams can compete with the Lakers. What else can be said, I hope it goes to 7 but the Lakers are ridiculous. The Jazz's toughness is always a factor but their offense is suspect.

Igoudala is drasticly underrated and he does have a working class supporting cast, goodluck 76er's. Howard is good, but man get him the ball in clutch times and he can really prove it, the Magic need to step up their game if they want to live up to the expectations everybody has affixed to them season. Wait, maybe they need a healthy, real point guard? Howard has to dominate for the Magic to advance.

The Mavericks are paper thin and will fold, Tony P. is just too much. Spurs are veteran and Pop aint fu*&#$^% around, his bench is ready and willing. Terry is amazing off of the bench and Barrea is a rising talent but the Spurs are old but not out. Watch Tony P. rap here.

March is the ANTITHESIS OF CALM. Lincolns & Peter Pan

Putt-Putt is stone cold serious business.

SXSW has been over. Fun, but I'll gladly hold the door for the tornado of swag, drinks in plastic cups, and exclusive lines. The festival offered up a wealth of great films, check out select reviews and original videos at The Accent SXSW Blogs.

Evolution is still taking a beating down here in Texas' textbooks. I wonder why? Post soon to come.

The Huskies look good, but a little slow. Definite height advantage, but the freshman Kemba Walker stole the show with 23 points and clutch foul shots. I have a feeling that they will be meeting Louisville in April.

How about them Wildcats! Knocked of #1 Pitt who I thought would be facing off against Louisville in the National Championship game, who knew, seems to be a football state. Hard to tell who is more psycho, T. or Blake Griffin, Lawson and Hansbrough are good but not good enough, OU will be facing off with the Wildcats in Detroit.

The NBA is closing in on the playoffs and the race is anxiety attack close in both conferences. 1st round match ups in the West will be as follows (according to my crystal ball); Dallas @ Los Angeles, Portland @ San Antonio, New Orleans @ Utah, and Denver @ Houston. The East; Charlotte @ Cleveland, Chicago @ Boston, Philadelphia @ Orlando, and Miami @ Atlanta

State economy looking bad, go GAMBLE?

Texas Legislators are considering "12 new las-Vegas style casinos, one in every major city across the state." According to this morning's Wall Street Journal.

More gambling in Texas? Legislators have argued that instead of Texan's going to neighboring Louisiana and New Mexico to gamble, we should keep that revenue here, with more race tracks, casinos, and slot machines.

Pros: Texan's would be able to go and get drunk and gamble, and the money we would save in gas we can just gamble away!? Maybe this would create some jobs inside and around the casinos, but the amount of increased social problems that are married to a gambling community might not be worth it? Casino's could create an influx of tourism to the cities that do build casinos, but do Texan's want that type of tourist frequenting their city?

Cons: Social problems; such as gambling addiction, increased alcohol and drug abuse, and a seedy element possibly would increase within and around major metropolitan areas that really don't need any assistance in that department (Dallas Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio, El Paso, Austin). Are these casino giants (MGM and Harrahs) really going to funnel revenues back into Texas, last time I checked neither one of these corporations are based out of Texas? Possibly, a loss of future federal assistance if we do instill a beefed up gambling market. In reality does Texas really have the money to expand something like gambling given the global financial crisis.

The far right is not going to let this happen, and Governor Perry isn't going to let this happen. Suzi Paynter the director for public-policy of the Baptist General Convention of Texas is quoted in the Wall Street Journal as saying, "We built our state on family-friendly tourism, and we have a saying in Texas: Dance with who brung ya." These people and Mrs. Paynter have a lot of pull and they aren't going allow anyone to take that away, especially not gambling speculators.

What do Texan's think?

Who watches the Watchmen

"I am a brother to dragons, and a companion to owls. My skin is black upon me, and my bones are burned with heat." - JOB chapter 30, verses 29-30

"Until we transform our mere sightings into genuine visions; until our ear is mature enough to order a symphony from the shrill pandemonium of the aviary; until then we may have a hobby, but we shall not have a passion." - Alan Moore

Will the Watchmen film stand up to Alan Moore's original story? I hear he has already expressed discontent with the adaptation, but what artist is content when they sell their work, and someone else is allowed to "adapt" it?

Earlier today I saw Watchmen graffiti in the bathroom of a convenience store in Brenham, Texas, very ominous.

What a night

King James next year in Dallas at the 2010 dunk contest?
Rudy Fernandez robbed of his points with his second dunk? Alley oop off of the back of the backboard for the one handed reverse jam.
Dwight Howard dunked over by 5', 9" Robinson, ridiculous.
Superman Dwight Howard out of the phone booth for the 12' plus jam!
Kenny Smith and Reggie Miller talk a lot of trash, and anyone get the sense they hold some type of animosity for one another?
Congratulations Daequan Cook on your underdog 3-point Shootout victory, quieting the peanut gallery.
Von Wafer, Brooks, Battier, or Artest of the Houston Rockets for the 3-point Shootout in Dallas next year?
To Kirk Bohls of the Austin American Statesman; February is a dull month for sports? All Star Weekend, playoff level basketball going into the break and intensity that will continue all the way until the N.B.A. Finals, real athletes and a league that's media coverage isn't saturated with ridiculous and boring drug accusations. Just ask Josh Howard.
Check out the highlights , and read Bohls's column about the boring month of February where he slams basketball and NASCAR.

2 for the thumb!!!

Two for the thumb! Go Steelers. I know they were favored, but hey. Congratulations Pittsburgh.
